Boylan Heights Association Meeting June 24, 2008 Meeting Place: 603 South Boylan Avenue Home of Lyman Collins and Don Davis
Attendance: Jeff Mason, Chase Bryan, Steve Bryan, Lyman Collins, and Jimmy Creech.
Minutes
Jeff Mason, president, called the meeting to order. The agenda printed in the June 2008 Newsletter was approved.
The Minutes of the May BHA Meeting and the June 2008 Financial Report were referred to the July meeting for review and approval.
Jeff Mason requested that Jimmy Creech, secretary, send each month’s minutes to Joseph Huberman, BHA Newsletter editor, and Chris Weedy, BH Web Site chairperson. The minutes will be sent to Jeff for review before posting them.
Jeff announced that there will be an Executive Committee meeting on July 8 at the home of Lyman Collins and Don Davis (603 South Boylan Avenue). The meeting is for all officers and committee chairpersons. The agenda of the meeting will include:
Committee Reports:
Big Boylan Bash – Chase and Steve, co-chairs of the Bash Committee, reported that organizing for the bash is underway. The date is August 10. Lyman is coordinating volunteers. Catherine Bray is coordinating the food. Kelly Cunningham is coordinating the bands. Robin Madison is coordinating the children’s activities. Sponsors to date: John Bruckle with Bloomsbury Estates has made a $500 contribution. Merchandise: There will be a “close-out” sale on all BHA t-shirts.
ArtWalk – Lyman Collins, chair of the ArtWalk committee, reported that the application for participating artists is ready to be publicized. The date is December 7.
Neighborhood Watch – Jimmy Creech, chair of the Neighborhood Watch Committee, reported that he’d talked with RPD Chief Harry Dolan about incorporating all of the Boylan Heights neighborhood into the Downtown District. Chief Dolan said that this will be done. New staff is being hired to reorganize the RPD districts.
The nuisance activities on Rosengarten – late night loud outside parties along the creek – seemed to have ended.
Boylan Condos have talked with RPD Officer Charles Taylor about doing a security assessment. No Trespass signs will be installed.
There has been little action since the recent newspaper reports concerning 715 South Boylan. Jimmy spoke at the June meeting of the Central Citizen’s Advisory Council about the problems there.
Old Business:
At the May meeting, Lee Kirby informed Elizabeth Dunbar that the Association would cover the expenses for the neighborhood Graduation Party. Jeff will ask Elizabeth to submit an account of the expenses with receipts.
