MINUTES BOYLAN
HEIGHTS ASSOCIATION Present: Lee Kirby, Robyn Durham, Franklin Haignere, Lyman Collins, Don Palmer, Jimmy Creech, Chris
Weedy, Jeff Groves, Chelsea Mills, Richard Spence, Matthew Staton,
Jay Spain, Mark Johnson, Marsh Hardy; Guest: Officer T.G. Vestal, RPD. I.
Approval
of Minutes A motion was passed to approve the minutes from
the with
the addition of listing who the neighbors were who attended the meeting. II.
Finance
Report There was no finance report. III.
RPD
Report Officer Tommy Vestal of Raleigh Police Dept.
Downtown District gave a brief overview
of crimes occurring near Hide program the
police have instituted downtown. He agreed to check with Chief Perlov
and Capt. Reynolds to see what progress has been made in putting all of Boylan Heights
in one police district. He agreed to alert his department about
repeated traffic on
Watch Committee. IV.
Progress Energy Substation Jimmy Creech reported that there is a federal
grant covenant on the property at 627 put
a substation there. He reported that he has been in communication with Marty Clayton at Progress
Energy who reports there is “no movement in any direction.” PE is
apparently considering other properties as well. The current plan is to continue
to be vigilant
of Progress Energy’s actions. A motion was passed stating “The Boylan Heights Association
goes on record in opposing a power substation at 627 Dorothea Drive
or any similar residential property in the vicinity.” V.
Streetlights
at
Lyman Collins reported that he is in the process of setting up a meeting
with the City
Manager to discuss
Street. The 4 streetlights would be used to “anchor” the that he has called the Arts Commission and has also
discussed the matter with
Developer John Bruckel of Bloomsbury Estates, who is supportive
of the project. Jay Spain made a
report and also referred to the articles in the BH Newsletter. VII.ArtWalk
2006 - December 3rd Laura Brown will be
heading up the Bake Sale. Chris Weedy will be heading up sale of Centennial
T-shirts. Lyman Collins will be heading up a raffle for
the Centennial Committee. VIII. Centennial Committee Report Lyman Collins reported
that for the Centennial there will be a booklet published “celebrating
the neighborhood.” He also reported that in January or February there will
be a “workshop on oral histories.” IX. Garden Club Chair Ray Lanier is the new
Garden Club Chair. X.
Website Updates Chris Weedy reported
