Adjourn Welcome by Lee Kirby, thanks for dealing with late start (
I. Announcements, agenda read. II. Report on Urban Land Institute. Discussion about ULI
meeting was one of general disappointment over the conduct of the meeting and
the limited opportunities for public input there. It was felt to be mainly just a chance to
meet the ULI group. Lee Kirby summarized the Friends of Dix Executive summary
to be presented to ULI on 10/25. III. Report on Power Substation of Progress Energy currently proposed
for Jimmy Creech reported
regarding 627 Dorothea. Four meetings
have taken place including with Thomas Crowder and Progress Energy. PE has
option to the land and has decided to use the property for a substation. The
mayor seemed to be in agreement that the plan is inconsistent with other plans
that the city has for the area, and the city planning commission also is
reportedly not happy with the plan. PE has made some limited indications that
it will reconsider their plan for the substation and possibly look into
alternative locations, though they have made no promises. Jimmy Creech
recommends BHA continue to stay in touch with the city and PE. He will also
send a report to the neighborhood via listserv and web site with the complete
information discovered thus far. This subject will be added to the agenda for
next month. IV. Committee and Special Project Reports Chris Weedy reported that a t-shirt had been developed for sale at the
Art Walk celebrating the 100 anniversary. Chris Weedy also reported that Saunders North Group requested BH
residents to come to meeting Sat. 10/28. Pumpkin glow Tuesday Time ran out, meeting adjourned. Copyright 2003-2008, BoylanHeights.org |
