IV. Historic Commission delegation presentation

        History of Commission
       
Began in 1967, 5 years before national

 

                Partnership between city and commission

                Five major historic districts in Raleigh,

                Broken partnership… less staff

                City Planning Dept. considering fees, public meeting in Sept. 19 (PM)

                $25 for “minor work”

                $100 for “public hearing”

                $250 for “major work”

                $500 for demolition of building

                $75 per re-review

                $250 historic landmark review

                               

Commission needs staff and money to fix backlog, therefore needs the fee increases. They handed out pamphlets.

 

 

V. Centennial Committee report
        House tour to raise money instead of grant.

        Lyman Collins motion to vote to authorize the committee to apply for grant

Leila May seconded motion.

Motion passed.

 

Don Davis made a motion that we make a statement that we support public art as an important aspect of our developing city, and we support the city following its evaluation processes for Plensa project. Chris Weedy seconded the motion.

Motion passed.

 

Lyman Collins suggested adding content for next meetings agenda… using Fayetteville Street chandeliers that city owns for the Boylan Bridge, BHA should attempt to get them.

 

Chris reported on Boylan Bash. Bigger Bash scheduled for next years Centennial. $1800 made on sales. There was a keg left over, suggests having a fund raiser at Moonlight on Friday. Chris Weedy will send info to announce listserv.

Lyman Collins welcomed several new neighbors.

 

Thank you to Don Davis and Lyman Collins for house.

 

Time ran out, the rest of the scheduled meeting was tabled.
