Project Enlightenment

1.      Per Jimmy Creech, the business part of the meeting will be abbreviated because of the presentation by Dan Douglas.  Also BHA elections will be held during the May meeting.

 

2.       The minutes from the March 2006 BHA meeting were unanimously approved.

 

3.      Finance Report - Leslie Kellenberger – Treasurer:

a.       No change from the last report on Jan. 24. 

 

4.      Reports from Committees and Special Neighborhood Projects

a.       Welcoming Committee – Lyman Collins:

See report in the April BHA newsletter.  In addition, Mike Bouffard at 320B S. Boylan and Tiffany Broili at 425 S. Boylan were also welcomed.  If you know of new neighbors please contact Lyman Collins, Welcoming Committee Chair at 919-821-0899 or email at lyman.collins@townofcary.org.

b.      Friends of Dix Park – Jay Spain:

The following resolution was approved as written in the April BHA newsletter: 

“The Boylan Heights Association supports the mission of the Friends of Dorothea Dix Park and requests that you designate the remaining 306 acres of the Dorothea Dix Campus as a park district.  We encourage you to enlist a world-class park planner to design the use of the campus.  We ask that any profits from the park plan be allocated to the mental health trust fund.” 

This resolution will be sent to the General Assembly, City Council and County Commissioners.

c.       Big Boylan Bash – Chris Weedy:

Planning is underway for this yearly event which will be on Sunday, August 20, 5 to 9 PM.

d.      Truck traffic on Boylan Ave. – Jimmy Creech:

Report written by Jim Kellenberger was read.  Discussion and concerns expressed about early morning truck traffic, heavy truckloads and parking issues.

e.       Pink Truck:

See April BHA newsletter article for details.  Jessica Schrider is coordinating trash pickup on May 20 and May 21 at 1115 W. Lenoir, 1104 W. Cabarrus and 603 S. Boylan.

f.        Neighborhood Safety – Jimmy Creech:

Discussion about police presence in the neighborhood.  Do not leave items unattended in your yards or valuable items exposed in your cars.

 

5.       Presentation by Dan Douglas, Director of Raleigh’s Urban Design Center:

a.       Complete overview of all public and private development projects both planned and already underway in downtown Raleigh.

 

6.      The meeting was adjourned.
