BOYLAN HEIGHTS ASSOCIATION MEETING MINUTES

Project Enlightenment

Attendees were:  Michael Bradshaw, Bernard Herberholt, Elizabeth Dunbar, M. H. Green, Lyman Collins, Karla Oakley, Jeff Groves, Heather Groves, Don Palmer, Evelyn Fahy, Jeff Mason, Bettie Jo Vogler, Gwen Weaver, and Jimmy Creech.  Guests:  Joyce Davis, Paul Setliff, John Bruckel, Sgt. Rocker and Corporeal Marx.

 

 

1.       Review of minutes from the September 2005 BHA meeting.

a.         The full text meeting minutes were approved.

 

2.      Finance Report - Leslie Kellenberger – Treasurer: (via email)

b.         Revenue in October:  $97.00  (Meeting donations & Bash)

c.   Expenses in October:  $0.00

d.   Ending bank balance as of 10-24-05:  $4,315.96

 

3.      Special Guests

e.         Sgt. Rocker and Cpl. Marx; Raleigh Police Dep’t.  Discussion regarding properties of concern.  701 S. Boylan, things looking better but not where we should be yet.  To report illegal drug activities call 890-3555 which is the Investigative Division of the RPD.  To report graffiti call the US Post Office for drop boxes and 831-6001 for public property.  Graffiti on private property is the responsibility of the property owner.  Arrests have been made recently at the Boylan Bridge for vandalism (graffiti). 

f.    Joyce Davis and Chris McClure have made an offer on 620 Cutler (old Grocery Store) contingent on re-zoning to O&I.  They plan a lawyer office and architect office.  Earliest re-zoning is 2-7-06.

g.   John Bruckel; Bloomsbury Estates developer.  Mr. Bruckel has acquired the Keystone property adjacent to Bloomsbury.  Bloomsbury development required brownfield cleanup.  There will be 2 buildings.  The building plan has changed from 5 to 6 storys, thus increasing total units from 68 to 94.  There will be an exit on Boylan and an exit/entrance on Hargett.  Under building parking for 60 cars and surface parking for 90 more.  Construction to start March 2006 on building #1, corner of Boylan and Hargett.

 

4.      Reports from Committees and Special Neighborhood  Projects.

a.  Welcoming Committee - Lyman Collins:  Welcome Carla Oakley on Kinsey St.  Also new neighbors on South, Dorothea and Boylan.  Neighbors please alert Lyman to new people moving in.  Contact Lyman Collins at  821-0899 or email lyman.collins@townofcary.org.

 

b.   ArtWalk – Elizabeth Dunbar:  Dec. 4 is the day.  Please park in a different place than on the route to ease parking for visitors.  Call Chris Weedy to volunteer for the Bake Sale. 

 

5.      Old Business.

h.   Traffic and signage:  The City has approved removing the “no turn on red” sign at Boylan and South.  Work is progressing in getting approval for parking on the east side of 700 Boylan block.
